The Royal
Pavilion Ice Rink is calling on central Brighton businesses to donate their
lunch hour to raise funds for the BBC Children in Need appeal on November 12
between 12 and 2pm.
Pudsey Bear
will be taking to the ice, accompanied by a film crew from BBC South East Today,
at the special session in advance of the annual televised appeal, which takes
place on November 15.
Staff at the
attraction will be dressing for the occasion in Pudsey ears, beanies and spotty
suits. The rinkside Bar and Kitchen will help cook up funds for the charity by
serving up a variety of Pudsey snacks, also contributing 50p per sale.
The fundraising
sessions are open as usual to skaters and can be booked at www.ticketmaster.co.uk/royal-pavilion-ice-rink.
Visitors are being
invited to dress up and wear skate-sensible fancy dress such as spotty pyjamas,
head-to-toe yellow or a dotty dress. For every skater who books to skate and comes
to the rink in costume, the Rink will donate 50p.
Shella Parkin of the
Royal Pavilion Ice Rink is calling on Brighton firms to join in the fun by
donating an hour of their time to raise cash for the cause, which helps young
people across the UK. She said: “This is the first year that the Royal
Pavilion Ice Rink has supported BBC Children in Need and we are very proud to
be welcoming Pudsey Bear himself, along with the team from BBC South East Today
at noon on November 12. We are calling on visitors to transform the rink into a
sea of spots for this colourful, fun event.”
“The Ice Rink has a
number of fundraising initiatives in place which will take place on November 12
and on the main Children in Need fundraising day on November 15 – please do
support the days by coming along.”
Construction
is currently underway on the rink, which will open for its fourth year from
November 9 to January 19 on the Royal Pavilion’s Eastern lawns in Brighton. Set against the exquisite
backdrop of the former pleasure palace, the Royal Pavilion Ice Rink has space
for 250 skaters per session, with a beginners’ area with penguin skate aids and
skate sizes from ‘just walking’ to adult.
Enjoy the view and watch the skaters in action at the stunning rinkside
Bar & Kitchen, which offers heart warming snacks, delicious lunches and
dinners, mulled wine plus a great bar selection.
